Patricia Maxine Rhoads was born on February 2, 1945, in Hardesty, Oklahoma, to Leola Maxine and Robert Smart. She passed away February 26, 2026, in Carney at the age of 81. From an early age, she carried a servant’s heart and a deep love for others—qualities that defined her life.
After graduating high school, Patricia followed her calling into education by attending Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma, earning her degree in 1972. She began her teaching career in Carney, Oklahoma, and later continued her work in Sparks, Oklahoma, where she not only taught and coached but also faithfully served as a principal. Patricia had a deep love for basketball and received many awards throughout her career. More than the recognition, she treasured the opportunity to guide, mentor, and encourage her students.
Patricia married her high school sweetheart, Bobby Rhoads, and together they built a loving family. She was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Christine Gail Rhoads (Brown) and Pamela Dawn Rhoads (McCorkle). She was a proud grandmother to Timothy Brown, Robert Brown, Heather Brown, Brittany McCorkle (Gray), and Micheal McCorkle; and a cherished great-grandmother to Larissa Brown, Tyler Brown, Liam Brown, Skylar Gray, Kinsley McCorkle, Ellie McCorkle, Zoey McCorkle, Payton McCorkle, Kyla McCorkle, Micheal McCorkle, and Sarah McCorkle.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Ronnie Smart and Jerry Smart. She is lovingly remembered by her siblings Charles Smart, Bobbie Smart, Randy Smart, and Shirley Smart (Smith), along with many extended family members and dear friends.
Patricia’s faith was the foundation of her life. She loved her church dearly and lived out her faith through service. She volunteered faithfully at the church clothes closet, always eager to help those in need. Serving others brought her great joy, and she gave generously of her time and heart.
Patricia will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her dedication to education, her love of family, and her compassionate spirit. Her legacy of kindness and service will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
“Well done, good and faithful servant”
