Grace May (Gaines) Wilson

Grace May Wilson was born August 17, 1939 in Hominy to Jim and Beulah (Martin) Gaines.  She passed away March 4, 2024 in Oklahoma City at the age of 84.

Grace lived in Wellston and Carney throughout her adult life.  She enjoyed bingo, Wheel of Fortune, crossword puzzles, reading the Lincoln County Newspaper and gossiping.  She was a stay-at-home mom raising ten children.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband of many years, Virgil Lee “Cowboy” Wilson; two children, Gracie Simpson, Gary Wilson; two grandchildren, Jason Guinn, Christopher Guinn; siblings, James Gaines, Leroy Gaines, and Ruby Webb.  Survivors include her children, Emma Laney and her husband Mark of Stroud, Cindy McLaughlin and her husband Harley of Mangum, Carol Cornett and her husband David of Stroud, Larry Bell of Stroud, Virgil Wilson and his wife Jamie of Chandler, Janette Sexton of Chandler, Robin Wrenn of Oklahoma City, Tim Wilson and his wife Kristi of Chandler; 24 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, March 11, 2024 at the Assembly of God Church in Carney with interment following in the Carney Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
